EVA rubber and polyurethane sole: why it makes sense for children

EVA rubber is the commercial name for ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, foamed here in a closed-cell structure. It is lightweight, does not soak up water easily and cleans with a damp cloth and neutral soap. For a child who runs in and out of the water ten times a day, that means footwear that does not end the day heavy or stiff.

The polyurethane (PU) sole provides cushioning and a comfortable step, with a tread designed for damp surfaces. The division is simple: lightness and easy cleaning on top; comfort and stable walking underneath.

Boat and harbour
For family boat trips, days at the yacht club or time on the quay before lunch. They rinse clean with fresh water, release salt easily and weigh very little in the family backpack. How to care for them — the simple version

• Rinse with fresh water after the sea, pool or sand.
• If there is sun cream, chlorine or sticky residue, wash by hand with neutral soap and a soft brush.
• Dry in the shade with good ventilation. Do not leave them inside the car in the sun: extreme heat damages the material.
• Store completely dry and away from prolonged direct sunlight.
• Check the sole from time to time: if the tread is very worn, the real grip changes.

What we promise and what we do not

We do promise lightweight footwear that is easy to clean, quick to dry and designed for wet summer use. We will not tell you they are waterproof —an open avarca-style sandal is not a sealed shoe—, or that they are completely non-slip on every wet surface: grip depends on the sole tread, compound and wear, and it is always the adult’s responsibility to supervise a child near water. We do not call them antibacterial either. If you rinse them and dry them well, they stay fresh. That is what matters.
